The deadline to apply for the 2012–2013 Artist-in-Residence program at Anderson Ranch Arts Center has been extended to midnight, February 14, 2012. Fourteen artists will be selected from the juried pool of applicants for the coveted residency spots.

Residencies will be awarded in these areas: ceramics, photography & digital media, painting & drawing, sculpture, woodworking & furniture design, and printmaking. As part of the program, resident artists have access to all of the Anderson Ranch studios and support staff and are encouraged to experiment with cross-disciplinary work.

There are no specific educational qualifications for entry into the program; finalists are chosen on the basis of artistic merit by an independent jury of established working artists and live and work at Anderson Ranch for the residency period. The resident artists are provided with studio space, housing, meals, and studio support, and are required to pay only a nominal residency fee.

Are you an artist? The Lakeside Legacy Arts Park is an excellent place to show off your artistic talents to thousands of community members through out McHenry County. Submit an EXHIBIT APPLICATION for 2012 for the Dole, Sage and Installation Gallery spaces at Lakeside. All mediums accepted and can range froms student to emergering artist to professional artists/educators. Lakeside is located in Crystal Lake, IL at the Historic Dole Mansion in Crystal Lake. It features three galleries and 20 resident partner artists and musicians. Lakeside has studios to rent and is a private event rental facility with a culinary studio. Lakeside also offers art/music programs and classes and is always looking for program instructors and ideas. To download an application to show your art at Lakeside visit www.LakesideLegacy.org. Lakeside also is home to signature events including monthly First Friday Gallery nights with appetizers and music to complement the art exhibits.

The Lakeside Legacy Foundation Galleries welcomes proposals from scholars, artists and curators in all media, including video and installation. There is no deadline for submissions. The committee meets to review proposals only twice per year, usually in the mid fall and after new year. Planning is generally for two years out. Open gallery months begin in February 2012. The submission review for 2012 begins on October 24th.

One page proposal for body of work or specific exhibition plan. If the exhibit has been shown before, please include the dates and places of prior exhibitions in the proposal. Corresponding Image List for Hold Harmless Agreement. The list should include artists’ names, titles of work, dates, media, dimensions and weight. (This list can be altered no later than 10 days before agreed upon exhibit if selected to exhibit at LLF.)

Self-Addressed Return Envelope (SASE) for return of materials Only complete packages will be reviewed by a juried art committee consisting of two independent artists to be selected by LLF staff/Board, the LLF Executive Director, LLF Advancement Coordinator and one LLF Board Member. If accepted, artwork should be hung the Monday before the first Friday of the month, and the artwork will be removed the last Friday of each month. Each exhibit runs for approximately four-weeks with August/September, December/January and June/July having extended exhibits. Seventeen exhibitions will take place annually in the Dole and Sage Galleries, and up to four installations a will be considered for the 2

nd & 3rd Floor Dole Mansion space. Accepted artists will be required to sign a contract including a $75 hanging fee, and submit a hold harmless agreement no later than 10 days before the agreed upon exhibit date. Additionally, if the exhibit falls during a First Friday, the artist will contribute appetizers for the event and assist with marketing the opening with LLF. ACP Photo Festival Public Art Project

National Deadline: February 12, 2012 - Since 1998, Atlanta Celebrates Photography has supported Atlanta's emergence as an international center for photography. Through an annual October festival and year-round programs, ACP seeks to nurture and support photographers, educate and engage audiences, promote diverse photography venues, and enrich Atlanta's cultural scene.

The acclaimed ACP Public Art program, an integral component of the annual ACP festival, has featured temporary projects in a variety of diverse locations throughout Atlanta. It is significant in its ability to reach beyond the audience of traditional art venues and for its ability to expand the way its audience considers and perceives photography and ''lens-based'' media.

ELIGIBILITY

Any artist as an individual or team may apply, provided that the person(s) or firm who will be responsible for the actual fabrication and/or construction of the piece(s) have had previous experience in the medium(s) proposed, which must be disclosed in detail in the application form.

ENTRY FEE: None

MEDIA

No media restrictions have been established in order to ensure maximum creativity for participating artists. However, since ACP is an organization that promotes all things photographic, it is a requirement that your project involve lens-based or photographic media as an integral part of the piece (this includes images and/or video captured by a lens, or media in which light sensitivity is a primary element of the material, or reimagining the uses of photography, or possibilities of imagery made with light). We encourage you to think widely and to explore this concept without restraint.

Please keep in mind the ''Selection Criteria'' listed below. Projects that rely heavily on complex or untested technologies are discouraged - usually, the simpler the better. Please download descriptions of past ACP projects for a demonstration of the variety of projects we have commissioned.

BUDGET

$9,000 has been allocated. The budget is all-inclusive, covering design, construction and/or fabrication, transportation, delivery, site preparation, lighting (if applicable), insurance, consultant fees, installation and de-installation at the conclusion of the project. Artist's travel (if applicable) and all other costs associated with the project (including Artist's fee) are included in this amount. If the proposed budget exceeds $ 9,000, your application must detail how the overage will be funded.

SITE & DURATION

Applicants may propose sites, but should be aware that it is the applicant's responsibility to obtain permission and access from the proper authorities. Note that Artist should initiate the obtaining of permission during the application process if possible. ACP can assist the artist in securing an appropriate site(s) for the project if assistance is needed. Consideration should also be given to security, view accessibility, and ambient light issues of a proposed site. ACP would like the project to begin in late September/ early October 2012 and be on exhibition throughout the month of October, but will consider other time durations as they relate to specific projects. The artist should plan to remove the project early November, 2012.

A succinct concept statement for the project (not to exceed 400 words). Statement must also include technical details, material selection, and any additional pertinent information including your suggested project

Schedule (site visits, design, fabrication, installation and de-installation timeline). Note: audience experience is the most important part of any public project. Realistically address audience experience in your statement.

One page budget that lists the costs associated with the project and a list of the materials to be used.

Make sure your budget is inclusive of all elements described in ''Budget'' section above.

Current Resume (include individual resumes for all team members). Be sure to highlight your previous experience with the materials and technology that you are proposing for this project.

Up to 6 (six) work samples should be included in your application (jpegs, audio and video files are allowed). Include images that show a sense of your imagery and working process. Include year of project in image title.

The artist agrees to present concepts and designs to committees, boards, community groups if needed.

Artist agrees to refine artistic concepts and designs in conversation with the ACP Staff and consultants.

Artist agrees to develop a maintenance plan for the artwork if needed.

Artist agrees to deliver and install the artwork.

Artist agrees to provide documentation of the project, including site plans and images of fabrication and installation.

Artist agrees to provide ongoing updates to ACP staff.

ACP retains the right to photograph or videotape work completed as part of this project for publicity, grant writing, and promotional purposes. Your entry constitutes understanding and agreement with the conditions outlined in this request for proposals.

8th Annual Northeast National Pastel Exhibition

The 8th Annual Northeast National Pastel Exhibition at View, the arts center in Old Forge, NY is seeking entries. The last day to enter will be February 13, 2012. The exhibition will run from May 12 – June 30, 2012. Over $5,500 in cash and products will be awarded. The Juror of Selection will be Alain Picard, PSA. The Juror of Awards will be Martha Deming, PSA. This competitive exhibition is open to all living artists working in soft pastel. At least 80% of the final painting surface must be in soft pastel. Artistic, editorial, and technical staff will work closely with contributors as they develop the best approach to realizing their projects on the Web, from the conceptual phase to the design and technological production. Recipients receive:

Triple Canopy welcomes artist projects that treat the Internet as a medium and seek to develop ideas that engage with—but reach beyond—its specific qualities and attendant modes of readership and viewership; artful reporting, intelligible philosophizing, distinctive fictionalizing and the like. Because of Triple Canopy's unique interface we encourage writers not to be bound by the standard styles of magazine, art, and academic writing.

The 16th annual Art In The Pearl Fine Arts and Crafts Festival will be held Labor Day weekend in the beautiful and historic North Park Blocks of Portland, Oregon. Considered one of the nation's premier art festivals, Art In The Pearl features the jury-selected work of 130 artists from across the USA and Canada. Developed and produced by artists with the goal of creating a quality venue for artists to present their work to the public in an annual celebration, this festival features exceptional artists, a live World Music stage, artist demonstrations, a children's art area and a variety of culinary arts.

The 2012 show will take place from September 1st to September 3rd, 2012. The application deadline for the 2012 Art In The Pearl® Festival is February 15th, 2012. Applicants will be notified around April 1st, 2011.

GENERAL RULES (truncated)

* All exhibited work must be original to and handcrafted by the accepted Artist. Artist guarantees the accuracy of the description of the work presented to the jury and the authenticity of the work as the creation of their own hands.

* Artists must be at least 18 years old.

* Only those Artists accepted in the Jewelry category may exhibit or sell jewelry. All jewelry, regardless of the materials used, must be entered in

the Jewelry category.

* No more than two artists may collaborate on work. Both Artists must be included on the application. Artist collaborators that produce a single product may qualify as a single exhibitor but each artist must equally and creatively contribute to each piece.

MEDIA CATEGORIES

Media categories are used by Art In The Pearl as a tool for organizing Artistsʼ images into logical, related groups for the juryʼs review. The following are the media categories currently accepted for the juryʼs review: 2-D Mixed Media, 3-D Mixed Media, Computer Generated Work, Drawing, Emerging Artist, Fiber, Glass, Jewelry, Metalwork, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture, Wood

FEES

A nonrefundable jury fee (to cover jury expenses and administrative overhead) of $35.00 is required for each entry form in every category submitted.

Upon receipt of an acceptance letter, the selected artist is required to reserve and pay for their booth space. (See Rules of Participation for booth fees).

AWARDS

A total of three Best of Show awards are given to Artists for outstanding work. Award winners are invited to return in their awarded category the following year. An image of that Artistʼs work selected by Art in the Pearl will be on the promotional posters or post cards, web site, and in paid advertising for the show and other media promotions for the show.

5th Annual Spring Sculpture Show

International Deadline: February 15, 2012 - Sculptors and 3-D artists are invited to submit work for this 6-week exhibition, "Gesture - Paradox of Movement," with gala opening day, March 31, 2012. Scott Shields, Associate Director and Chief Curator at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, will serve as award judge. $2000 in awards, including $1000 Best of Show.

GUIDELINES

Work may be free standing or pedestal mounted (bring a pedestal if you have one). Suitable media includes ceramic, metal, fiber, wood, stone or plastic. Large outdoor pieces and site specific installations are encouraged. Work may be for sale. Indoor exhibit space is limited.

OVERSIZE ART / INSTALLATIONS

Please call/email ahead to discuss special arrangements for oversized artwork and installations.

ANTI is an international contemporary arts festival presenting site-specific works made for public space. Over the past 10 years ANTI has presented live, sonic, visual and text-based art from today’s most exciting and innovative artists. A truly international festival and Finland’s foremost presenter of Live Art, ANTI is a meeting place for artists and audiences fascinated by how art shapes the spaces of everyday life.

We are looking for innovative and exciting live art works for children. ANTI has a long history of presenting ground breaking projects for children and this year our annual call out is focused on finding something truly inspiring. We especially invite proposals from contemporary performance makers who have not made. work for children before but would like to produce something for a young audience. In previous years companies and artists like Gwendoline Robin, Lone Twin and Mammalian Diving Reflex have presented outstanding work for children at ANTI. That’s the tradition we want to continue: great work made by great contemporary artists for children.

Your project can take any form – it may be participatory and children do something with you, or it might be something a young audience encounters by surprise, or anything in between. Your project may last 30 minutes or seven days. It may be for an audience of one, or hundreds and projects should be targeted at specific age groups – from new-borns to teenagers.

ANTI is a site-specific festival – we do not show work in traditional art spaces, neither do we show touring street theatre: all our projects have a direct relationship with the spaces and places they are shown in. When proposing a project please make it very clear where your project would ideally be located, and why.

The artist will receive 100% of the selling price of their work. Illinois state sales tax will be collected, and will be the responsibility of the artist to pay to the State. The SCAC has liability insurance to cover the insurance value of the art being exhibited. All artwork must be ready to hang/install. Sculpture pedestals/stands must be provided by the artist. All artwork must be for sale. Delivery and pick-up of the artwork will be the artist's responsibility.

There is a comprehensive promotional plan for the gallery that includes a p.r. campaign, a social media campaign, and cross promotional opportunities with local retailers, restaurants, and arts organizations/businesses. Description: The Target Gallery and the March of Dimes are teaming up to raise money for both organizations with the appropriate title, “March Madness.” This exhibit is open to all artists(local and regional) with the requirement that the work is created on 10x10 inch wood panels provided by the Target Gallery. The $15 entry fee guarantees entry into the exhibit, one wood panel, a chance for judges’ awards, and free entry with one drink ticket to the Art Party on March 16th. There is a limit of 3 entries per artist.

Pick up your panel between January 2nd - February 17th. 2012. Upon receipt of the $15 entry fee, the gallery will provide the artist with a blank, 10” square, wood panel. The artist will need to pick the panel up at the gallery between 10am to 6pm. This international contemporary art event, with the textile element as a main reference in creativity, research and concern in all forms of artistic expression. It takes the format of triennial due to the need of continuity of the project, that will in the future motivate artists to pursue an experimental and cutting edge approach, and maintain the audiences interest in Textile Art. CONTEXTILE 2012 intents to create dynamics between local, regional and international organizations aiming to expand the quality of its cultural program...

CONTEXTILE 2012 will take place in the Portuguese city of Guimarães from the 1st of September to 14th of October, 2012. It takes part of the program of GUIMARÃES 2012 –European Capital of Culture.

The triennial program will include a Textile Art Competition and a Acquisition Prize (3000€) will be awarded to the winner. This competition is open to all national and international artists.

Artists may apply until the 15th of February 2012 with artwork projects from 2009 to 2012, and all forms of visual arts will be accepted, based on 3 fundamental criteria:

1- All works have to include the TEXTILE element, either by construction, and material used, or by chosen theme or concept.

2- Dimensions cannot exceed 2mt in all directions and have a maximum weight of 20 kg.

3- All works have to respond equally to creativity, originality and technical skill.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY (truncated)

1. CONTEXTILE 2012 - ACQUISITION PRIZE is centered in the textile element, either by construction, and material used, or by chosen theme or concept.

2. This competition is open to Portuguese and international artists, that have completed 18 years of age by the entry deadline date of 15th of February, 2012.

4. The competition is of individual artwork and collective projects are not accepted.

5. The CONTEXTILE ACQUISITION PRIZE of 3000€ will be individually. attributed. It will be announced at the Opening of the Exhibition. The winner will also be informed

6. The artworks will be judged and selected by a panel of six judges, including the director of CONTEXTILE 2012, the director of Kaunas Textile Biennial, and established and practicing artists and art critics. 7. There will be two rounds of judging. The first is a pre-selection over viewing portfolios and proposed art projects. In Franconia's first 15 years we have supported the careers of more than 615 emerging and established; regional, national and international artists.Currently there are over 95 sculptures and installations on exhibit at the park. Franconia is free and open to the public 365 days a year and offers a unique environment for the public to interact with the artists at work.

You will NOT be enrolled in a degree-seeking program, either part-time or full-time, at an institution of higher learning during the Fellowship.

Residencies may take place from April 1 to September 15, 2012, length of residency dependent on the nature of the project. Fellows may NOT be in residence the last week of July or the first week of August. Please plan to come early – the summer months are the busiest time at Franconia.

Sculptures with Electronics:

Please note that sculptures containing any electronic components must be properly designed for long-term outdoor exhibition. There is a one time charge of $125 for all sculptures that require daily power outlet access.

Artists responsibilities include:

Protecting all electronics in a weatherproof enclosure able to withstand high winds, humiditiy, rainfall, snow, and extreme hot/cold temperature.

Ensuring that a sculpture is properly wired. Only outdoor underground rated wire can be buried. Underground wire cannot contain any splices.

Thoroughly testing all hardware and software to be as error-free as possible, requiring little to no maintenance.

Designing all internal electronics to be accessible for troubleshooting & maintenance.

All sculptures requiring an AC outlet will be powered from 8:00am to 8:00pm . Sculptures must be able to fully start upon powering up without any manual intervention.

Torpedo Factory Art Center Visiting Artist Program

International Deadline: February 15, 2012 - Emerging and experienced artists are invited to apply for one, two, or three-month residencies between June 1 and August 31, 2012. Visiting Artists will be provided with studio space and will be able to display and sell original work. The Torpedo Factory is open to the public every day; visitors are invited and welcomed into studios to watch artists at work, ask questions, and purchase original art. The projects undertaken by Visiting Artists for this self-directed, creative residency must be compatible with available working studio spaces and facilities. The Visiting Artist Program is open to all emerging and experienced visual artists over the age of 21 who are not currently Torpedo Factory leaseholders [Torpedo Factory Associates are eligible and selection will not affect Associate status].

Applicants provide evidence of artistic accomplishment through submitted images and the application form.

By applying, applicants agree to: (1) work in front of, and interact with, the public; (2) work in the studio five days a week during the period of the residency (because most of our visitors come on the weekends, we request that Visiting Artist work on those days); and (3) commit to follow the Visiting Artist Program requirements.

ABOUT THE VISITING ARTIST PROGRAM
The Visiting Artist Program residency is intended as a professional development opportunity for emerging and experienced visual artists, and to expose visitors to exciting artists and projects. Applicants may apply for a one, two, or three month residency period.

The projects undertaken by Visiting Artists for this self-directed, creative residency must be compatible with available working studio spaces and facilities.

The Visiting Artist will have the opportunity for informal collegial exchanges with Torpedo Factory artists. As part of the program, each Visiting Artist is also asked to conduct a workshop, give a lecture, or provide a demonstration, elaborating on his/her work. Visiting Artists will be able to display and sell original artwork, and will be provided with workspace.

Each Visiting Artist will pay one-half of the rent of the studio (amounts range between $130 and $400 per month for the Visiting Artist depending on the studio). The Torpedo Factory Art Center does not have any shared equipment or facilities. All expenses and arrangements related to art materials, equipment, transportation, housing or other requirements are the responsibility of the Visiting Artist.

SELECTION PROCESS
Selections will be made in a two-step process. The juror, Paula Amt, will review all applications and select a group of finalists who present evidence of artistic merit and promise based on submitted images and applications. The Visiting Artist Program Committee will then match as many finalists as possible to spaces available, taking into account the applicant's requirements, attributes of the specific studios available, and the goal of providing a range of media experiences to our visiting public.

Visiting Artists will occupy studios temporarily vacated by resident artists, and will have use of half of the display space and a dedicated work area. Because studios differ widely in size, configuration and features (e.g., ventilation), and studios are not completely sealed off from each other, enabling sound and odor to travel widely throughout the building, it is important that applicants identify equipment and materials to be used during the residency.

Applicants will be notified of final decisions by April 1, 2012.

JUROR
Paula Amt is a painter and the owner of gallery plan b and Framesmith DC, both in Washington DC. She studied studio art and art history in Virginia and Paris. Paula has been active in the DC art scene since 1998, when she joined a co-op gallery on R Street.

Her experience as a framer led her to work with many local artists and collectors. In 2000, she began showing small groups of artists in temporary locations in the DC area; in 2005 she established gallery plan b where she continues to search out and show the work of many talented artists.

HOW TO APPLY
Complete an Application Form (download)
Create a CD with 15 JPEG images of work created within the last three years. Write your name, address and telephone number directly on the CD. Burn the CD for playing on both Macs and PCs.

Each JPEG may be no larger than 1600 pix in any direction; the image resolution must be between 72 and 100 dpi. Each file must be less than 1MB and labeled with the applicant's last name, followed by first name initial and then a number (e.g., the images for Barbara Smith would be: smithb.1.jpg, smithb.2.jpg etc.).

Include a numbered list of the images provided on the CD that includes the name of the work, medium, dimensions, date, and price (if it was made for sale) of each entry corresponding to the images on the CD.

Artists will receive an adaptable raw studio space in the historic livestock barn. All studios are roughly 300 square feet. The International Portrait Gallery in collaboration with Bosnian born American artist Edina Seleskovic and NGO Radio Kameleon is conducting an open call for the Artist in Residence Program at the International Atelier Ismet Mujezinovic in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Located in the heart of Europe, where the east and the west meet, the Gallery is offering a unique residency program for visual artists to live, work, and interact with the local community for the duration of one month.

Selection process and application

The selection of artists will be made by the International Atelier Ismet Mujezinovic Selection Committee. Visual artists will be invited on the bases of their application, project proposal, or by an invitation. Primary criteria are quality, originality, and potential for growth.

They are responsible for their own materials, specialized tools, fees for work done outside the premises, and for an assistant, should they require one.

The Window Project (ONGOING)

The Window Project is a curated outdoor, new media installation space facing the southern end of Woodruff Park from the windows of the Digital Arts Entertainment Laboratory (DAEL). The infrastructure consists of six high definition projectors synchronized to create a rear-projection screen that stands over six feet high and spans over 80 feet in width and can be seen from any vantage point in Atlanta’s central park and from the main pedestrian path of students of Georgia State University. The mission of The Window Project is to create a public art space that engages the community and enhances the Georgia State University campus and downtown Atlanta.

We invite the participation of local, national and international emerging and established moving image artists to submit current work reconfigured for six projectors around a curved surface or new work specifically created to take advantage of the multi-projector format. This space and format allows artists to break from the constraints of a single screen on a flat surface with a prescribed viewing point. We do not seek a specific theme for the content, but expect that it should be high visual, technical and conceptual quality and well suited for this unique public space, which is large, but subtle due to the curved glass and location on a downtown building window.

This project is sponsored by the Digital Arts Entertainment Lab. DAEL is a multimillion-dollar entertainment research and production facility located in the heart of downtown Atlanta on the campus of Georgia State University. Through industry and university partnerships, DAEL facilitates the creation and testing of digital media content. DAEL incubates emerging media arts businesses, trains graduate students and engages in user-centered media research.

About the Theme:

The theme of this exhibition of contemporary sound art will explore liminal space, and the breaking down of barriers, especially those between 1.) the artwork and the listener-viewer, 2.) each piece of sound art and the other works in the space, and 3.) between indoor space and outdoor space. The separation caused by each of these constructs will be challenged with the works exhibited.

Consumer Culture' International Exhibition Call for Entries

International Deadline: February 9, 2012 - Woman Made Gallery invites women artists worldwide to submit artwork in all media that address the issues surrounding and resulting from the insidious desire for consumption and the waste products produced by full-filling that need.

M.E. Ware is an interdisciplinary artist and educator. She employs irony and humor in her art to expose the deficiencies of modern ideology and social discourse with regard to the human desire for “meaning” and a purposeful life.

Ware is Associate Professor and the head of Sculpture at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, where she teaches a wide variety of studio and critical theory courses. In 2009, Ware was Artist-in-Residence at Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark. She is committed to research and teaching and conducts lectures, presentations and workshops at national conferences, seminars and universities.

The non-refundable entry fee is $30. Make check or money order payable to Woman Made Gallery. Entry fees from countries outside the USA need to be paid by International Money Order. LEVEL | Gallery seeks submissions from artists, designers, architects and creative thinkers for group or solo exhibitions and installations for the Spring 2012 semester. There are no theme restrictions – all forms and concepts of contemporary art are encouraged. Artists will receive an adaptable raw studio space in the historic livestock barn. All studios are roughly 300 square feet. Artists will have 24 hour access to their studio and accommodations which include a private bedroom, shared living room / study, dining room, kitchen, and bath. Artists also have access to workshop facilities as well as the potential for expansion of workshop space and the possibility of working outside. The residency’s workshop facilities include a wood and metal shop, a large format inkjet print room, and a silkscreen studio.

2012 Cheng Long Wetlands International Environmental Art Project

Artists from all countries are invited to send a proposal for a site-specific outdoor sculpture installation to be created during a 25-day artist in residency in Cheng Long, a small rural village near the southwestern coast of Taiwan in Kouhu Township, Yunlin County. This art project is an expansion of the 2010 and 2011 Cheng Long Wetlands International Environmental Art Projects, going into the Village as well as the Wetlands. This year the selected artists will work with elementary school children and community residents to create large-scale sculpture installations focused on the theme of “What’s for Dinner?” The artworks will reflect on environmental issues surrounding food production and emphasize organic aquaculture. In this community the main occupation of the villagers is traditional fish farming and the production of clams, shrimp and milk fish. Fish Farmers in Cheng Long always grow these 3 together: clams are the main product; the shrimp and milk fish are like workers who help farmers to deal with algae and little tiny things in the water. The whole fish farm is like a small eco-system. Kou-Hu Township is the most important place for growing clams, shrimp, milk fish, mullet roe and eel in Taiwan. Many people in the Cheng Long area also work in oyster farming. The Forestry Bureau and the Kuan-Shu Educational Foundation are going to encourage more “Environmental Friendly” fish farming here, in order to prevent the land-subsidence and find a way that fish farmers and birds can coexist well.

The 2012 art project will help to promote awareness of how our food is produced and the importance of sustainable and organic practices in aquaculture. Artworks will be site specific and located on, in and around existing village structures, old houses, abandoned buildings, vacant lots, underneath the roadway, beside the highway and in Cheng Long Wetlands, a wetlands nature preserve created by rising waters and land subsidence. The artworks will be made with recycled and natural materials that are part of the daily lives of the village residents. The artworks should be made to last for two years or more. Artists will work alongside other international artists and Taiwanese artists and with children and village residents in Cheng Long, Kouhu Township, Yunlin County, Taiwan.

Artists will be notified by February 22, 2012.

Installation and Residency in Cheng Long, Kouhu Township, Taiwan: April 12 (artists arrive) – May 7, 2012 (artists depart)

Dates of the Exhibition: May 4, 2012 (opening ceremony), May 5 and 6 – Opening weekend activities with the artists. The exhibition will stay on display through 2012.

About the Exhibition Place:

Cheng Long Village is located in Yunlin County, Kouhu Townwhip and is near the southwestern coast of Taiwan. Cheng Long Village has about 500 residents, and the Cheng Long Elementary School has about 77 children in grades 1-6 (ages 7-12). The sculpture installations will be sited in the Cheng Long Wetlands and throughout the community in public spaces such as public areas by the highway, along village streets, at village parks, and near the village temple. Some of the artworks will be sited on private lands with the cooperation of the owners and may include such places as vacant lots, abandoned houses, empty buildings or other existing structures in the village. This area of Taiwan is economically depressed, and some of the land that was formerly used for farming is sinking and now under water and too salty for growing crops. The Taiwan Forestry Bureau has set aside part of the sinking land to create the Cheng Long Wetlands, a wetland nature preserve that is now home to many species of birds, fish and other wildlife. Now fish farming and the production of seafood is the main occupation of the local people. Most young people move away to find jobs in the cities leaving older people and children as the main community residents. There are no super markets, movie theaters or coffee shops, but this residency will offer artists a unique cultural experience and an opportunity to share life with a small village in rural Taiwan. Selected Artists will receive the following:

Artist’s fee of NT50,000 (about US$1,662.12) for creating the artwork and participating as an artist in the public programs and working with the school children and community residents.

Round trip economy airfare from the artist’s home to Taipei (Taoyuan International Airport) and then train fare to Chiayi, Taiwan, by High Speed Rail where the artists will be picked up and brought by car to Cheng Long Village. Taiwanese artists will receive train fare or other transportation reimbursement for their expenses to come from their home to Cheng Long. Detailed travel instructions will be sent to selected artists, and artists must get the approval of the curator before booking tickets and keep all receipts for reimbursement when they arrive in Cheng Long.

25 days of accommodations in a local house with other international and Taiwanese artists. The houses will have a bedroom for each artist and a shared bathroom and kitchen for preparing meals.

Meals provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner each day. A local cook will prepare dinner for the artists; lunch will usually be at school with the children, and breakfast food will be provided for artists to make their own breakfast.

Local transportation around Cheng Long and to scheduled site-seeing trips with the artists and volunteers. Bicycles will be provided for the artists to use around the village.

Volunteer help from school children and adults in the community to create the artworks.

Help to find local recycled materials and natural materials to make the artworks. Oyster shells are probably the most commonly available material, but reeds, bamboo, tree branches, old fishing nets, plastic bottles, lumber, metal parts and other materials may also be available. Artists should use only natural and recycled materials and processes that will not harm the environment and encourage sustainability. Artists who want to purchase materials to make their artwork must consult with the curator and get the budget approved in advance.

Qualifications of Artists:

Artists who apply should have experience working with children and communities to create large scale site-specific outdoor sculpture installations in public settings and involve ordinary people in their thoughts and process. The artists should also have an interest in environmental issues related to food production and sustainable living. The selected artists should be able to speak English and be able to get along well with other artists, the local community and school children. The selected artists should also introduce their home culture to the students and community. 3 international artists will be selected from different countries around the world, and 2 artists from different places in Taiwan.

Curator of the Exhibition:

Jane Ingram Allen, an American independent curator, artist and critic, living in Taiwan since 2004 when she came to Taiwan as a Fulbright Scholar artist in residence, will be the curator for this exhibition. Jane will work with the Kuan Shu Educational Foundation in Taiwan, to administer and coordinate all aspects of this project, including the selection of artists and supervising art installations and public programs. Jane has experience curating international art exhibitions and working with public art projects.

Coaches' Corner Sculptures- Request for Qualifications :: NC State University

Project Budget - $150,000 inclusive

North Carolina State University is seeking qualifications from artists/teams to create sculptures of three iconic coaches to honor their contributions to the university's historic athletic achievements. The site for this installation is a campus landscape between Reynolds Coliseum and Talley Student Center. These sculptures are intended to be lively, to capture the spirit of, and evoke the characteristics of the coaches that they celebrate. The sculptures should also engage the rich garden landscape that will be embedded around the site. The new sculptures/designs will exist with a bust of Coach Kay Yow (inducted in 2010). Although the new sculptures are not bound by this existing Yow sculpture, they all must successfully work together in this site. A stipend of $2,000 will be paid to finalists for attendance at a campus interview and upon submittal of a sketch proposal.

The FINE ARTS WORK CENTER in Provincetown offers a unique residency program for emerging artists and writers. Located in a rustic fishing village with a storied history as an arts colony, the Work Center provides seven-month Fellowships to twenty Fellows each year in the form of living/work space and a modest monthly stipend of $750. Residencies run from October 1 through April 30. Fellows pursue their work independently in a diverse and supportive community of peers. Additional facilities include a basic woodshop, a print shop with etching and lithography press and a computer lab featuring a video editing suite and large format digital printer. Writing Fellows are housed in two- to three-room apartments. Some working studios and living spaces are handicap accessible.

Special Exhibits would like to invite you to enter the Celebrate Spring! exhibit to premiere at International Quilt Festival Cincinnati 2012. Quilts in this exhibit will be inspired by the season of renewal - Spring!

Please note that this exhibit has changed from an International Quilt Association (IQA) Judged Contest to an International Quilt Festival Special Exhibit.

You may submit a total of two quilts for our consideration. Quilts must be a minimum of 25" x 25". There is no "made after" date requirement.

Completed submissions with visuals must be received online by Monday, January 31, 2012. You will be notified no later than Friday, February 10, 2012, regarding the quilts to be included in this exhibit along with shipping instructions. If selected, the quilts will need to arrive in Houston no later than Friday, March 16, 2012. Quilts may travel to other shows and will remain a part of the traveling exhibit through November 2012. If quilts do not travel they will be returned by the end of May 2012.

She is a contributing photographer to The New Yorker and has published photo-essays and portraits in such publications as LIFE, The New York Times Magazine, Rolling Stone, and Vanity Fair.

Ms Mark was presented with the Cornell Capa Award by the International Center of Photography in 2001. Among her other achievements are the Infinity Award for Journalism, an Erna & Victor Hasselblad Foundation Grant, a Walter Annenberg Grant, the John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship, the Matrix Award for outstanding woman in the field of film/photography, and the Dr. Erich Salomon Award for outstanding merits in the field of journalistic photography.

This is an Open Call for proposals for an exhibition in the summer of 2012. This call is open to all artists from North America working in all visual media. Proposals for exhibitions by both individuals and groups will be considered. The individual or group associated with the chosen proposal will receive a solo exhibition at the Target Gallery from August 4 - September 2, 2012. The artist/s will also receive a stipend and an exhibition catalog. Our jurors for this years Open Exhibition are Jack Rasmussen, Catriona Fraser, and David Page.

Jack Rasmussen is the Director and Curator of the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center in Washington, DC. In addition he has also taught painting, curatorial practice, and arts programming, and worked as the university’s associate director of development from 1983 to 1987.

Catriona Fraser is an international award winning photographer and the Director of the Fraser Gallery. The Fraser Gallery exhibits the work of local, national and international artists with an emphasis on contemporary realism and photography.

David Page is an award winning, South African born, Baltimore based sculptor. His work is included in The Teaching Collection at St. Mary’s College, the permanent collection at the Baltimore Museum of Art and the collection of Nelson Mandela. His work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally including The Touch Gallery at the National Gallery in Cape Town, South Africa, Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts and The Baltimore Museum of Art. He currently teaches at The Corcoran College of Art and Design and is represented by Jordan Faye Contemporary since 2006.

Rockford Art Museum presents the 2012 Rockford Midwestern Biennial, the seventy-second juried exhibition of the series that surveys the breadth and depth of contemporary art in the Midwest today. Juried by Lisa Stone, curator of the Roger Brown Study Collection at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the 2012 Midwestern will be on view May 18–Sept. 23 at RAM. ELIGIBILITY

APPLICANT must be a current resident of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, or Wisconsin. ORIGINAL ARTWORK—paintings, sculpture (including kinetic or intermedia), prints, drawings, photographs—executed by the applicant within the last two years are eligible. No dimension may exceed 96 inches (8 feet); no weight may exceed 150 pounds.

Currents 2012, the 3rd annual Santa Fe International New Media Festival will be held in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA — June 22 — July 8, 2012. The Festival explores the role of technology and the diverse applications of New Media in the arts.

This year submission categories include single channel video, video and sound installation, interactive new media, animation, computer/software modulated sculpture, multimedia performance, experimental and interactive documentary video, Digital Dome projection, art gaming and web art.

The Festival will be held in several venues throughout the city: El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe, the Center for Contemporary Arts, the Santa Fe Complex and the Digital Dome facility at the Institute for American Indian Arts. In addition to exhibitions Currents 2012 will offer panel discussions and workshops, and two nights of multimedia performance. Festival events are free to the public.

Eligibility

• Faces and Places is a juried exhibit of contemporary fiber art open to artists over 18 years old living in the US.

• Works must be original. Work derivative of other textile artists or work created in an undergraduate program or workshop, with the aid of an instructor, is not acceptable.

• Maximum size is 240 inches, total of all four sides. For example, a 24” X 60” work would be 168” (24+24+60+60=168).

• There are no restrictions on the completion date of the work.

• All works must be ready to hang on a wall, and include all applicable hanging apparatus (e.g., hanging wires, hanging rods, etc.) Works cannot be suspended from the ceiling. Three-dimensional works are eligible but must be ready to exhibit on the floor, pedestal, shelf, or must include mounting hardware for wall display.

• All works must be offered for sale. A 30% commission will be charged by the Fiber Artists Network and the Butterfield Too Gallery on any item sold during the exhibit.

The Sex Issue: Volume 7

Projekt30 is seeking submissions for its seventh annual sex themed exhibition which will showcase fine artists who comment upon gender and sex in our society. We are accepting work ranging from the personal, to the political, to the near-pornographic. It will be publicly juried: artwork submitted will be presented prior to the exhibition, and site visitors select the final 30 winners. All participants receive exposure. Invitations will be sent to our extensive mailing list of galleries, collectors, etc and viewers have the option of contacting artists, both during the jury and after the winners are selected. As of Nov. 2011 over 300,000 messages have been sent to previous Projekt30 participants. "The Sex Issue" will open Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 2012.

How To Apply

Project Description: Describe in a paragraph the themes and content of the show. It is imperative your description is clear and that it leaves us with a strong impression of what to expect from the exhibition you propose. Include project title, how many pieces in the show, media, and other important details on your plans for the exhibition. We are interested in compelling ideas, concisely stated.

Application: Fill out the PDF application, including the Work Description List. It is available to download and print here.

Work Sample: Enclose up to 15 digital images on a CD, including samples of work by all participating artists to provide a sense of the proposed show. Digital image files should be saved on the CD as the artists' last name and numbered corresponding to the Work Description List, such as Jones_01.jpg, Jones_02.jpg, Smith_03.jpg. Size images at 1200 pixels on the longest dimension. Do not embed images into PDF files. For video samples we will accept DVD and CD-ROM formats. Images are crucial to our understanding of your proposal. Your Project Description should function as the backbone that connects your image samples together.

Work Description List: List details of the work corresponding with their number, including artist’s name, title, dimensions of work, materials used and date executed for each piece.

Support Materials: We recommend but do not require enclosing a resume and one page or less artist statement from each participating artist. Please do not include reviews, publications, or other additional items.

The Fine Print

SOIL provides a stipend ($200) to assist with postcard printing & postage, and pays for vinyl wall lettering. All additional costs for the show, including shipping and insuring of artworks, reception food and drink, etc., are the responsibility of the curator. Additionally, the curator is responsible for installing and de-installing the show within the given schedule.

SOIL assists with writing and distribution of a press release, access to the mailing list, keeping the gallery staffed and general promotion on the website.

Sales

Sales occur directly between the artist or curator and the buyer. Gallery sitters are happy to put the artist or curator and buyer in touch with each other. SOIL encourages a 15%-30% donation of sales. While this is not required, we operate on a modest budget and appreciate donations. Our percentage is low because we are not focused on sales or supported by them. We are foremost dedicated to our mission to support emerging and innovative art in Seattle.

Fantastic Fibers is an international competitive exhibition that seeks to showcase a wide range of outstanding works related to the fiber medium. In four years Fantastic Fibers has grown to a truly international competition/exhibition. Last year's Fantastic Fibers 2011 had over 400 entries submitted by 187 fiber artists from France, Canada, Japan, Qatar, and from 23 US states with 58 works by 47 fiber artists chosen for the exhibit.

The competition/exhibition is open to all professional artists 18 years and/or over working in the field of fiber art. Contemporary and innovative works created with fiber as the primary medium are welcome. All work submitted must be original, completed in the last three years and not previously exhibited in a Fantastic Fibers exhibition. There are no size restrictions. A non-refundable entry fee $10 is required for each entry submitted for consideration with a maximum of five entries per artist. Entries must be submitted online by February 4, 2012.

Juror Luanne Rimel is an artist, curator, and currently the Director of Education Programs at Craft Alliance Art Center in St. Louis, Missouri. She holds an MFA in Fibers from Southern Illinois University and has taught numerous workshops and classes around the country. Rimel will award a minimum of $1,750 in cash prizes for this year's exhibition.

Exhibit will be open to the public March 31- May 5, 2012, at the Yeiser Art Center in Paducah, KY. Paducah is the home of the National Quilt Museum. The American Quilter's Society Annual Show and Contest will be held in Paducah from April 25 to 28, 2012.

Fiction Fix seeks works of graphic literature, sequential art, and any other combination of image + text for our Spring 2012 issue, guest edited by Russell Turney. All works submitted are considered for Editor's and Readers' choice awards, qualifying recipients of which are nominated for inclusion in the Best American Comics, and other awards.

Please use our submission manager for all submissions. Please include author's/artist's name, email address, and phone number. All short fiction, short short fiction, and novel excerpts are considered for publication. We don't currently have a strict cap on the number of pages, but it is uncommon for us to accept stories that are over 35 pages.

We accept artwork of all kinds, including paintings, photographs, digital and mixed media art, and etc. We recommend looking at past issues to get a feel for the artwork that fits Fiction Fix. Please include up to ten images, preferably submitted in 1 PDF file. Please note that we cannot review artist's websites to select images from a large body of work. We ask that artists send a specific set of images that they feel will cohere well within a literary journal and represent their artistic vision.

The Fine Arts Work Center offers a unique residency for writers and visual artists in the crucial early stages of their careers. Located in Provincetown, Massachusetts, an area with a long history as an arts colony, the Work Center provides seven-month Fellowships to twenty Fellows each year in the form of living/work space and a modest monthly stipend. Residencies run from October 1 through May 1. Fellows have the opportunity to pursue their work independently in a diverse and supportive community of peers. A historic fishing port, Provincetown is situated at the tip of Cape Cod in an area of spectacular natural beauty, surrounded by miles of dunes and National Seashore beaches.

Eligibility

The Fellowship is open to all emerging visual artists creating two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and time-based media work. Applicants are judged on the quality of their work and not on previous exhibition experience, resumes, recommendations or the like. The jury disqualifies applicants it deems to be already emerged—e.g., those who have had high-profile solo exhibitions, or have been in significant group exhibitions such as biennials.

Collaborative teams may apply under one application. If selected they will only be awarded one Fellowship. Please note that visual arts Fellows are provided with furnished living accommodations with one full-sized bed.

Self-directed artists’ residencies will be offered from May through November 2012, with off-season sessions in April and December. Most residencies are four weeks in duration. The Gloria Singletary Gallery at the Living Arts and Science Center invites a variety of artist proposals for 4-8 week exhibitions. Independent curators, collaborative teams of artists, and individual artists are encouraged to submit proposals for exhibition.

The gallery at LASC is dedicated to providing exhibitions that are engaging and interactive so that we may involve the viewer in unique ways. A relationship with the art that is tactile or participatory allows gallery visitors to become further engaged and responsive toward the exhibited art work. This can be through direct or indirect relationship with the exhibited art work. The gallery director will collaborate with each chosen exhibitor in order to develop and execute ideas that provide new and exciting methods for hands-on learning during the exhibition. Please look at past exhibitions to see the types of things we have presented to our gallery visitors. Proposals that incorporate an interactive and participatory relationship with the art work are encouraged.

The LASC is also interested in offering innovative emerging and established artists an opportunity to continue developing their creative potential and investigations while affording valuable exposure. As a non-profit organization, we seek to provide a diverse context for area art production by supporting artist's projects and collaborations also associated with other regional non-profit organizations. Our goal is to increase awareness and appreciation of the visual fine arts and to promote critical contemplation and discourse within the local community and beyond. One Nation, Under Construction: Call for Submissions The Chicago Architecture Foundation is seeking great architecture- and infrastructure-related stories to include in our digital learning project, One Nation, Under Construction. We are looking for independent filmmakers and producers to create a cohesive series of short videos that explore one idea or place. If you have a great idea, please send us a brief pitch. Describe the story, place, ideas, and characters or subjects. Tell us what people will learn and what makes it a good story. What is the bigger message? Why would it be engaging to visitors to the site? Your proposal should be short—not longer than a page or two. Please send your resume and a few examples of your past work. This is a paid position. A bit about us: The Chicago Architecture Foundation connects people and place through the power of design. Our goal is to inspire people to participate in the building of great communities. Our programs meet our audience where they are – from bringing awareness of place to providing tools and skills to make change. The One Nation, Under Construction site features brief, stand-alone video and audio segments. Each explores stories related to architecture, infrastructure, urban history, planning, and landscape. Collections—groups of segments—focus on a single idea or place. While drawing on the latest scholarship, each collection surprises, engages, and moves audiences as it investigates the link between the ways of building and the values of the builders. The power of this project derives from its approach—featuring everyday voices and stories alongside the expertise of featured scholars and specialists. Chicago will be its touchstone, but the project will cover national and international issues. Here is the scope of work: • Create a series of three engaging and professionally edited 2-3 minute segments that explore a specific Chicago-based idea or place. • Incorporate images, supporting video clips, music, citations and/or logos as appropriate • Supply CAF documentation of image rights acquisition • Provide text and images for use on website per CAF’s instructions • Upload finished segments in the file type and location that CAF indicates If we select your submission, we will work out a three-month project schedule that will include the following milestones: • Storyboard of each segment. The Brooklyn Utopias exhibition series and Brooklyn's Old Stone House, www.theoldstonehouse.org, are pleased to announce an open call for submissions for the third annual Brooklyn Utopias exhibition, Brooklyn Utopias: Park Space, Play Space, taking place at OSH in Spring 2012, in conjunction with the long-awaited re-opening of the renovated Washington Park/JJ Byrne Playground surrounding the House.

Brooklyn Utopias is an ongoing exhibit and event series, founded in 2009, in which artists, youth, activists, architects, designers and urban theorists consider differing visions of an ideal city through the “concrete” example of Brooklyn. Brooklyn Utopias: Park Space, Play Space at the Old Stone House invites artists to consider the history, politics, and planning surrounding public parks and recreation spaces. Participating artists will critically respond to past and present notions of “utopian” park design, and/or propose their own visions for ideal public spaces. Artists are encouraged to submit proposals for new projects, or existing work that relates the theme, in all media. Projects relating to Brooklyn or NYC are encouraged, but artists may also consider other cities. In addition to work for the exhibit, artists may propose temporary outdoor projects for Washington Park, or public performances, events, and talks to be held throughout the duration of the show’s run. The park’s re-opening ceremonies promise to attract thousands of visitors, as well as city officials and press, and the Brooklyn Utopias exhibit will be prominently featured in all related events.

Textile artists are invited to submit an entry for a travelling exhibition of textile works exploring the title theme – Beneath the Southern Sky. Each work will be in a 40x100cm (W x L) vertical banner format and up to 30 works may be selected by the curator, Brenda Gael Smith. International entries are welcome.

Conditions of Entry (truncated)

Entry is open to all textile artists. International entries are welcome. Non-Australian artists must provide completed paperwork to satisfy customs requirements.

Entries may be any kind of fibre art but each work must be sturdy enough to travel without special requirements.

Entries must measure 40x100cm finished (W x L, vertical banner format) and include both a hanging sleeve and velcro strips in accordance with the curator’s directions.

Entries must be submitted via the Beneath the Southern Sky Online Entry Form by no later than 25 January 2012 (NSW, Australia time). No paper entries or disks will be accepted.

Only one quilt will be selected per entrant, although artists may enter more than one work.

Artists’ Responsibilities (truncated)

•Artists whose work is selected must pay a $20 administration fee to assist with travel and administration expenses. This fee is payable by no later than 28 February 2012.

•Selected artists will also be responsible for the cost of shipping the work to and from the curator.

Textuality: A Call for Artworks

International Deadline: January 25, 2012 - Manifest Creative Research Gallery announces an international exhibit exploring works which incorporate text or letter forms.

Not long after humanity began drawing, drawings evolved into writing. Pictures became symbols, abstraction blossomed, and language became visual. Two branches, sharing one root, carried forward people's ideas, feelings, and plans. The visual and the verbal arts shared the role of encapsulating civilization's data. And they continue to do so today, in so many wondrous and varied ways. TEXTUALITY is an exhibit that inquires into the overlap of these two branches, seeking examples of where the verbal is made visual, where language returns into image.

Manifest continues its eighth season with a project intended to feature and explore works which incorporate text or letter forms. These may be in ways that are quite straightforward, or which are abstract, fragmented, or in other ways surprising or significantly processed away from recognition. Manifest is eager to see just how artists make work of any media or genre (painting, drawing, collage, photography, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media, video, and non-traditional art, etc.) using text or letter forms as a significant element.

ELIGIBILITY

TEXTUALITY is open to everyone. Professionals as well as students are encouraged to enter.

Note that artists who previously exhibited at Manifest or had work included in our publication projects ARE perfectly eligible to submit. Our juries are always conducted blind, and we do not disqualify folks who have success in past juries. However there is no advantage here either because our jury members vary from project to project.

MEDIA

Open to any and all traditional and non-traditional visual arts genre and media, (including video, photography, sculpture, collage, design, sketching, illustration, etc.). The only limitation is that text or letter forms must be incorporated as a primary element in the realization of the work.

JURY AND CURATOR

Manifest's selection process involves a complex two-part system. This exhibit will be juried by an anonymous 5-9 member panel of professional and academic advisors with a broad range of expertise. The jury will then pass along their recommendations to the exhibit curator who will make the final selections from the jury-approved pool.

CATALOG

Manifest will produce a full-color catalog documenting the work selected for exhibit. Each exhibiting artist will receive one free copy of the catalog. Artists will receive their copy either in person when picking up work after the exhibit, or with the return shipment of their artwork. Additional copies can be purchased via the online bookstore. DELIVERY AND RETURN OF WORK

All work accepted for the exhibition must arrive ready to install. Works not gallery-ready, or not exhibiting good craftsmanship, may be omitted from the exhibit. Accepted work that differs significantly from the entry images or suffers from poor presentation, will be disqualified. Please note that professional-level presentation is a must. Work may be hand delivered or shipped. Shipped works must be sent in an easily reusable container/packaging with return shipping prepaid, and include the return shipping label with the work. Works will be returned in the same manner as delivered or via UPS/USPS. All work must arrive at Manifest by the specified date (see calendar below). Accepted work will remain on display for the duration of the exhibition. Works not claimed within 30 days of the end of the exhibit will become the property of Manifest. The artists are responsible for all shipping costs.

INSURANCE

Works will be insured while on gallery premises. Insurance covers theft, vandalism, damage caused by gallery patrons or staff (in accordance with insurance policy). PLEASE NOTE: Insurance does not cover damage caused during shipping due to any reason, including mishandling by carrier or failure of packaging to protect works in transit. Also not covered is damage caused to work by failure of the work itself, its mounting systems installed by the artist, or disintegration/degradation due to the nature/quality of materials or craftsmanship.

ENTRY FEE

Each work submitted must be accompanied by a $10 non-refundable entry fee. Number of entries is unlimited. Entry fee must be paid by U.S. check or U.S. or International money order made payable to MANIFEST, or by credit card via PayPal. (If paying by PayPal PLEASE use the paypal link provided on the page that follows the submission of the online entry form.) Detail images may be included at no additional cost, but should only be included if necessary for understanding the nature or quality of the artwork. For more than one entry fee paid by PayPal PLEASE remember to update quantity when doing so on the PayPal site.

How many works should I submit?

The average number of works submitted to typical Manifest calls is 3. Some artists like to submit several more, especially if they have a couple different bodies of work which they'd like our jury to consider, or if they have a suite of works that are interrelated. While we have absolutely no minimum number required (other than one), nor do we give an advantage to those who submit more, it is helpful to have a few options to select from at the curatorial stage. And we do routinely accept pairs or sets of work by artists once they are determined to be a finalist through our blind jury system.

SALE OF WORK

All work, unless indicated as not for sale (NFS), will be available for sale during exhibit. Manifest Gallery will retain a commission of 30% on all artwork sold during the exhibition.

URGENT Call for Artists: Everyday objects + Meaning-making

We are looking for artists who explore meaning-making through work with everyday objects, particularly those from the home environment. "Prescribed Meanings" will feature artists who examine how we assign meaning to objects, how objects serve as mediators in our interactions with others, and how, through our relationships with things, we begin to understand ourselves and the world around us.

"Prescribed Meanings" will be a part of 2nd Floor Rear, a 24 hour festival of alternative and itinerant art spaces, which will take place from noon Feb 4 - noon Feb 5.

Chicago House & Social Service Agency (www.chicagohouse.org) will be hosting its 9th Annual Champagne Wrap-ture in January. We wish to invite 15 visual artists to design or embellish a bottle of bubbly.

Although there are no rules or guidelines for designing your piece, in conceptualizing your submission for this year’s event, we hope you’ll consider a unique sustainable product design. Bottles of varying sizes will be provided by our generous sponsor, Champagne Veuve Clicquot, and are 3 inches in diameter x 13 inches tall, or 2.5 inches in diameter x 10.5 inches tall for smaller “splits” of champagne.

This opportunity will give participants exposure, and their work would be benefiting an amazing nonprofit organization. As a thank you, Chicago House will provide one complimentary event ticket to each designer who participates in this year’s event which will take place on the Sky Deck of the Willis Tower.

100% of the net proceeds raised from Champagne Wrap-ture will go directly towards the general operating expenses of Chicago House. Annually, the four housing programs and the broadly based community case management, prevention, and employment programs reach over 500 men, women and children living with HIV and AIDS, with life-sustaining and life-affirming support.

Almost one third of our annual operating budget comes from the revenue generated by our signature special events, and we're proud to welcome Champagne Wrap-ture as our most unique fundraiser yet. We rely on the compassion and creativity of the Chicago artist, design and architecture communities to partner with us in this important and truly unique fundraising experience.

The Artist In Residence program at Starry Night Retreat provides artists, writers and researchers with the opportunity to live and work within a small creative community. Located downtown in the historic hot springs district of Truth or Consequences, a small, rural New Mexico town, Starry Night is a place where writers, artists and researchers can find quiet solitude and focus on their work. Open year round, residencies are a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of one year. Starry Night aims to support artists, researchers and writers in the creation of new works in the rural town of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Located in the historic hot springs district of the town, the residency includes lodging and shared studio space. Matriculated students, emerging artists, and mid-career professionals are encouraged to apply. Depending on the institution, credit for residency is available. The cost to participants is $250 per week or $900 per month. Artists are encouraged to bring their partners, and may do so for an additional $150 per week.

Eligibility: Emerging and established visual artists, writers and researchers engaged in the creation of new work.

Deadline:   Ongoing with four reviews according to the following schedule:

The University of Connecticut (UConn), the state's flagship research university, has been committed to education, research and public service since its founding in 1881. For over a half century, the University of Connecticut School of Nursing has prepared professional nurses who have gone on to provide leadership at the state, national and international levels. Its faculty members advance knowledge through excellence in scholarship and research as they address the healthcare needs of the world's diverse population. The committee is seeking an exterior work of art for the new addition - an exterior location to be situated along the southeast lawn of the building where it will be experienced by the School of Nursing students, visitors and staff along with the greater campus community.

Artists interested in this project should submit their registration form and images to the Art in Public Spaces Image Bank. Artists registered in the Image Bank will automatically be reviewed for public art projects that fall within their discipline area.
